“A lot of things that are better, some things that are … really really different”
This is a quote from Adrienne Davis, an employee of Rowan University's library since 1988. Notice that I did not state which library she has worked in since 1988 -- this is because she has worked in more than one. Rowan University has had more than one library through its almost 100 years; the current library, Campbell Library, was constructed in 1995. Before Campbell was Savitz Library in Savitz Hall, constructed in 1963. Before Savitz Library was in Savitz Hall it was in Bole Hall, and before that the library was a single room in Bunce Hall.
The Library at Rowan University (and Rowan College of New Jersey, and Glassboro State College, and so on and so forth) has gone through changes just as its university has. This project is to look into our two most recent libraries -- Savitz Library in Savitz Hall and Campbell Library (Savitz and Campbell, respectively) -- and see how the evolution of our community lead to the evolution of our library, and the other way around.
