Connection of Churches in the Mid-Atlantic Region
I created a map of all the churches he built in our area; however, churches were not his only specialty. According to the philadelphiabuilding.org, he was an architect of 96 buildings throughout his lifespan. He also built asylums, cemeteries, and high-end houses, just to name a few. His work is said to have guided architects of future generations, and he introduced several European design styles to our country. He was one of the individuals who molded the artistic side of our country, even in our fledgling state. From an architectural standpoint, I was drawn to this church. Considering that this church is over 170+ years, it still seems to be in a pretty good condition. It is Gothic Revival style, which to me, gives people the impression of strength, faith, and wisdom.
On a different note, my father has been in the antique business for over 40 years, and to say that he knows artistic trends and styles is an understatement. He has spent his life better understanding and seeing the beauty in antiques, and fortunately, he has bestowed some of that knowledge onto me. I have spent a great deal of my time studying art, and this church is a beautiful example of how art has the power to change our world with its beauty.
