Location of the Mural

For the location of m mural, I’ve chosen Campbell Library. The address of the library is 215 Mullica Hill Rd, Glassboro, NJ 08028. The coordinates for the location within the library are approximately 39°42'33.2"N 75°07'08.7"W.
The mural would go up on the first floor of the library next to the stairs. It’s a location that gets a lot of traffic from students whether they’re walking to class, advising, or just to find a study spot. Currently, there's a painting on the wall that’s nice, but as far as I know, doesn’t have much to do with Glassboro. It would be easy to view for those who look for it but subtle enough that it blends in. The social setting of the library is mixed. On the first floor, it’s ok to talk quietly, so it isn't as tense as the upper levels. There are many pieces of art in the library, so the mural would fit right into this space. I decided to put my imagined mural inside the library rather than outside of it for a couple of reasons. For starters, it will be much cheaper to make and maintain than if it would be if it was an outdoor piece, which would need to be protected from rain and harsh weather. In addition, inside the library, the main audience of this piece will be Rowan students. My hope is that students will be able to learn about and appreciate agriculture through the mural and that it will cultivate an interest in the history of this farming in our community. In turn, this will bring Glassboro community members and Rowan students closer. The library has an abundance of information within thousands of books and artifacts. The location connects with the theme of the artwork because just like the library, the mural is also telling a story about the history of agriculture and Glassboro’s history. The mural would be a more accessible way to learn about history and would only enhance what the library already has.
