Segregation in Glassboro

Part IV: The Future

The issue of housing segregation based on race has been around for decades and does not appear to be going away anytime soon. However, there does seem to be growing attention to the topic so there is a possibility for progress to be made. Also, with Americans moving into cities again if gentrification is done in a way that allows people already living in the area to stay there then problems such as schools in the area not having enough funds can be solved.

However, this is an issue that developed over many years and will take a concerted effort to correct the situation. Public policy will have to intervene in some way. Whether this is better integration of public policy, better gentrification policies, etc.

The first step just as it is for any other issue is to bring attention to the topic. This may seem cliche to say but I wanted to reiterate the necessity of doing so. I can attest that simply learning about the history and long term effects of these policies is enough to want to offer solutions to the problem. The evidence is simply overwhelming.
