Glassboro's Auditorium: An Atypical and Complicated Center for Town Activities

The End of the Auditorium's Era and its Cultural Impact on Glassboro

The lifetime of the Auditorium was short, as it burned down in the early hours of January 26, 1917 (GCHS 2019). Many records indicate the importance of this building to the community, but for an unknown reason it was never rebuilt. Much like the influence of the former Presidents visiting the Auditorium, I think the building itself paved way for more developments in Glassboro. To this day it is still a hub for activity, whether due to the University or the businesses that exist in town. These activities may look a little different now, but the spirit of the Auditorium is still here in town -- we do important things, but we also have fun!
