There would be poor ventilation and the conditions would be bearable but not ideal as workers would just be doing basic glass blowing into metal presses. The Glassworks owners kept notebooks of glass formulas to preserve over the ages and to know what chemicals and compounds to use to make each color of the glass, and what types would be the strongest. This resulted in specific families with a long history in glassmaking to have the best glass formulas because they would have been developed and improved upon for many years.
