This mural is located in the ground outside of the Hollybush Mansion at Rowan University, the historical home of the Whitney family that founded the Whitney Glassworks. Beside the mural is a holly bush that was planted to identify the location of the mural to pedestrians. These important details were chosen because of the hidden history of Hollybush and the Whitney family.
First, the mural is placed in the ground as an aspect of the hidden history to hide the mural from people that are not specifically searching for it. By obscuring the mural from view, visitors must approach the mural and fully immerse themselves in viewing it and learn. This allows for the knowledge to spread and to inspire others to learn about the history of Glassboro Second, the holly bush placed beside the mural is a landmark for the location so that previous visitors can find the mural and also pays respect to the holly bush that was removed for the construction of the Hollybush mansion. This historical detail is something that not all visitors will notice but has a functional and artistic purpose.
