Imagined Glassboro Mural Proposal: Changes in Glassboro High School Through History: by Jack Bell

About the Cultural Geographer

My name is Jack Bell, and I am a freshman student at Rowan University. I grew up in Hackettstown, New Jersey before moving to Ocean City, New Jersey in 2014. I went to high school at Ocean City for 4 years. During the summer, I work as a beach lifeguard on the Ocean City Beach Patrol. Right now, I am studying Electrical & Computer Engineering, and I am part of the Honors Concentration at Rowan.

I chose to study Glassboro High School because I was interested in learning about the schools and education in Glassboro.  I looked into the history and found it interesting how the schools and their locations changed several times to find out that the schools are not nearly the same as they were before. The questions I explored were what changed as the high school's location moved throughout history, specifically with the culture and the school spirit. I am interested in creating a mural so that people in Glassboro, especially Rowan students, who do not know about the location of the original high school can learn something valuable about the history of the high school.
