Location of this Mural
My mural is located at the original location of the high school on High Street and Lake Street. I picked this location because unlike the other two locations of the high school, there is no presence or reminder of the original high school which is the origin of my story. In my mural, I made the original High School the largest image and placed it in the center to reflect the importance of the location.
Around the site, there are modern buildings built within the past decade that stand where the high school previously was. On one side of Lake Street there is a TD Bank with memories of glass making history covering its walls. On top there are brand new apartment buildings. Across Lake Street from the bank is AKCG Public Relations with new apartments as well. Across High Street is Ben’s Barber Shop which was established in 1940. There is also a tall parking garage nearby due to the mural's proximity to Rowan Boulevard. Overall, its location is in a busy environment, where you can hear the cars driving down the street as well as construction workers working in the distance nearby.
The size of the mural is 4 feet wide and 2.5 feet tall. It would be placed in a way that makes it easily visible and would give anyone passing by an easy way of realizing that they are standing where the original high school once stood from 1913 to 1930.
